What the problem looks like
Signs you're dealing with this
The door runs rough or jerky
Rollers with worn bearings drag and hop in the track instead of rolling smoothly.
It's gotten loud
Steel rollers with failed bearings grind; that metal-on-metal sound is a roller telling you it's done.
You see a cracked or bent hinge
Hinges hold the panels together as they bend around the track's curve. A cracked one lets panels shift and can lead to bigger damage.
Rollers are popping out
A roller with a worn stem or a hinge with a failing bracket can let the roller jump the track.

How we do it
Our process
STEP 01Assess wear
We check each roller for play and each hinge for cracks, and confirm the track is clean and straight so new rollers run true.
STEP 02Replace in sequence
Rollers and hinges are replaced panel by panel with the door secured, so the door stays aligned throughout.
STEP 03Upgrade to nylon
We fit sealed nylon rollers, quieter, smoother, and longer-lived than the steel rollers most doors ship with.
STEP 04Test
We cycle the door and confirm it runs smooth, quiet, and square.

Parts & materials
- Premium sealed nylon rollers on 13 ball-bearing stems, self-lubricating and effectively maintenance-free
- Galvanized hinges and end brackets
- Track fasteners as needed
What affects cost
Cost scales with how many rollers and hinges need replacing and whether you upgrade the full set to nylon. We'll quote the door as a set so you get the quiet-running benefit everywhere, not just one panel.

Questions
Roller & Hinge Repair FAQ
How many rollers does a garage door have?
A standard residential sectional door has around ten rollers, two per panel plus the top fixtures. We usually replace the full set so the whole door runs the same.
Are nylon rollers worth it over steel?
For most homeowners, yes. Nylon rollers are dramatically quieter, don't need the track lubricated, and last longer. It's the most cost-effective quiet-door upgrade there is.
What does a hinge actually do?
Hinges connect the panels and let the door flex as it curves from vertical to horizontal along the track. A cracked hinge lets panels misalign, which stresses the rollers and can bend the door.
How long do rollers last?
Steel rollers often start failing around 7 years. Premium sealed nylon rollers can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years and are self-lubricating, so the track needs no grease. If yours are loud or rough, they're near the end regardless of age.
