What the problem looks like
Signs you're dealing with this
The motor runs but the door doesn't move
Often a stripped drive gear or a broken trolley, the motor is turning but nothing is connected to the door anymore.
The door reverses before it closes
Nine times out of ten this is the safety sensors, misaligned, dirty, or blocked. Sometimes it's the close-force setting.
The remote or keypad is unreliable
Intermittent response points to a dying remote battery, a failing logic board, or radio interference we can track down.
It's suddenly loud or grinding
Grinding usually means worn gears or a dry chain; a hard clunk can be the trolley or a mounting issue.

How we do it
Our process
STEP 01Diagnose the real fault
We separate motor problems from door problems first, a lot of 'opener' complaints are actually spring or track issues overloading a healthy motor.
STEP 02Repair or advise
If it's a gear, board, sensor, or trolley, we repair it. If the unit is old enough that repair is throwing money at it, we'll say so plainly.
STEP 03Re-calibrate
We reset the open/close travel limits and the force settings so the door stops in the right place and reverses correctly on contact.
STEP 04Test the safety systems
Photo-eyes and auto-reverse are tested with a real obstruction so you know the door will stop for a child, a pet, or a car bumper.

Parts & materials
- Replacement drive gears, sprockets, and trolleys
- Logic boards and capacitors for repairable units
- Safety photo-eye sensors, remotes, and keypads
What affects cost
Cost depends on the failed part, a sensor or remote is minor, a logic board or gear set is more involved. If your opener is old and failing in multiple places, we'll price a repair against a new unit so you can choose.
Safety note
The auto-reverse and photo-eye sensors are federally required safety features. If yours don't reverse on contact, don't keep using the door until they're fixed.

Questions
Opener Repair FAQ
Should I repair my opener or replace it?
If the unit is under about ten years old and the fault is a single part, a gear, a sensor, a board, repair usually makes sense. Past that, or if it's failing in several places, a new opener is often the better value and adds modern safety and Wi-Fi features.
Why does my door reverse right before it closes?
Almost always the safety sensors near the floor are misaligned or dirty. Clean the lenses and check that the two indicator lights are solid. If it still reverses, the close-force setting or the sensors themselves need service.
My remote stopped working, is the opener broken?
Not necessarily. Start with a fresh remote battery. If a keypad and remote both fail, it's more likely the logic board or an antenna issue, which we can test.
How loud should an opener be?
A chain drive is the loudest; belt drives are much quieter. If yours got suddenly louder, it's usually a dry chain, worn gears, or loose mounting, all repairable.
Can you program my car and phone to the opener?
Yes. We program remotes, exterior keypads, in-car buttons, and, on Wi-Fi-capable units, the smartphone app before we leave.
What opener brands do you service?
We work on all the major brands, LiftMaster, Genie, Marantec, Craftsman, and more, and carry common parts for them on the truck so most repairs are done the same visit.
