How we do it
Our process
STEP 01Plan the opening
We work out how the old opening should be closed, a solid wall, a new window, or an entry door, so the framing supports your plan.
STEP 02Remove the door system
The door, springs, tracks, and opener all come out and are hauled away, leaving the opening clear.
STEP 03Frame it out
We frame the opening to your plan so it's square, plumb, and ready for insulation, drywall, and finish work.

Parts & materials
- Framing lumber for the wall and any window or door rough opening
- Header and support as required by the new configuration
What affects cost
Our scope, removal and framing, is priced on the size of the opening and how it's being closed. The broader conversion cost depends on the other trades involved. We'll be clear about exactly what our estimate covers.

Questions
Garage to Living Space FAQ
Do you do the whole conversion?
We handle the garage-door side, removing the door and hardware and framing the opening. Drywall, electrical, flooring, and permitting for the finished room typically involve other trades, and we're happy to coordinate our part with them.
Can I reverse it later?
If you frame in a way that preserves the header, a future owner can reopen the wall and reinstall a door. Tell us if that flexibility matters and we'll frame with it in mind.
Will removing the door affect my home's value?
It depends on your market, some buyers want the garage, others want the extra room. Many homeowners keep the option open by framing so the opening can be restored. It's worth thinking through before you commit.
