## General

**Do you charge a trip or diagnostic fee?**

No. We have a $0 trip charge, we come out, diagnose the problem, explain it plainly, and give you a written estimate before any work begins. You decide with the facts in front of you.

**What areas do you serve?**

We're based in Gilbert and serve the East Valley and across the metro: Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Phoenix (Ahwatukee area), Glendale, Scottsdale, and Peoria.

**Are you licensed and insured?**

Yes, Blue Fox Garage Doors is licensed, bonded, and insured under Arizona ROC #326520.

**How long have you been in business?**

We've been serving Arizona households since 2019.

**What are your hours?**

Monday through Friday 7am to 9pm, Saturday 7am to 4pm, and closed Sunday. Those long weekday hours mean we can often reach a same-day breakdown after typical work hours.

**Do you provide written estimates?**

Always. Every estimate is itemized in writing before work starts, no verbal quotes that change once the job is underway.

## Repairs

**My door won't open, what's wrong?**

The most common cause is a broken torsion spring: the opener strains, lifts an inch, and stops because it's now fighting the door's full weight. Other causes are a snapped cable, a door off its track, or an opener fault. Don't force it, call us and we'll diagnose it same-day.

**Why does my door open a foot and then close again?**

That's usually the opener sensing the resistance of an unbalanced door, often a broken spring, and reversing as a safety response. It can also be a travel-limit or force setting. It's a sign to stop using the door until it's checked.

**Can you repair the door I have, or do I need a new one?**

Most doors are very repairable, springs, cables, rollers, hinges, and openers are largely standardized parts. We only recommend replacement when a door is badly damaged, structurally worn, or when a discontinued panel can't be matched. We'll tell you honestly which it is.

**How long does a typical repair take?**

Many repairs, spring replacement, cables, rollers, are done in about 30 minutes to an hour on site, because we stock common parts on the truck. Bigger jobs or special-order parts take longer, and we'll give you the timeline up front.

## Springs

**How long do garage door springs last?**

Springs are rated in cycles, one open plus one close. A standard spring is rated around 10,000 cycles, roughly 7 to 10 years for an average home. Open your door many times a day and you'll be at the shorter end.

**Should I replace one spring or both?**

If your door uses two springs and one breaks, we recommend replacing both. They wear at the same rate, so the second break is usually not far behind, and doing both at once saves a second service call.

**Is it safe to replace a spring myself?**

No, this is the one repair we ask you not to DIY. Torsion springs store enough energy to cause serious injury or death if they release uncontrolled. It takes winding bars and trained technique to do safely.

**Why is my new spring quieter than the old one?**

We fit oil-tempered springs, which run smoother and quieter than the builder-grade springs many doors ship with. Combined with fresh lubrication, most doors are noticeably quieter afterward.

## Openers

**Should I repair my opener or replace it?**

Under about ten years old with a single failed part, a gear, sensor, or board, repair usually makes sense. Older than that, or failing in several places, and a new opener is often the better value while adding modern safety and Wi-Fi features.

**Why does my door reverse right before closing?**

Almost always the safety photo-eye sensors near the floor are misaligned or dirty. Clean the lenses and confirm both indicator lights are solid. If it still reverses, the sensors or the close-force setting need service.

**Belt drive or chain drive, which is better?**

Belt drives are much quieter and are the right choice if there's a bedroom above or beside the garage. Chain drives cost less and are durable for detached garages. We'll help you weigh it for your home.

**Can I open my garage from my phone?**

Yes, with a Wi-Fi-capable opener. You get app control, alerts if the door is left open, and remote entry for deliveries. We set it all up during installation.

**Do new openers work during a power outage?**

Models with battery backup do, the door keeps working through an outage, which matters during monsoon-season power cuts. It's an option we recommend for Arizona homes.

## New Doors & Installation

**How much does a new garage door cost?**

It depends heavily on material, insulation, size, and design. A basic single steel door is at the low end; an insulated, windowed, or custom wood door is more. Rather than quote a number that won't fit your door, we measure and give you an itemized estimate.

**Is an insulated door worth it in Arizona?**

For attached garages and ones used as workspaces, yes. Insulation slows heat transfer, keeping the garage and any adjoining rooms more comfortable and easing the load on your AC in summer.

**What door material holds up best in the desert?**

Steel is the most popular for good reason, durable, low-maintenance, and it handles the sun well with a quality finish. Wood is beautiful but needs more upkeep under intense Arizona sun.

**How long until a new door is installed?**

Because doors are built to your opening, there's a lead time between measuring and installing. We give you a realistic date when you order and schedule the install for when the door arrives.

**Do you haul away my old door?**

Yes, removal and haul-away of the old door and opener are part of the installation.

## Maintenance & Safety

**How often should I service my garage door?**

Once a year suits most homes. A door used many times daily, or in a dusty area, benefits from more frequent checks. Regular service is far cheaper than an emergency repair.

**What does the auto-reverse safety feature do?**

Federal safety rules require openers to reverse when the door meets an obstruction, backed up by photo-eye sensors near the floor. We test both with a real obstruction on every visit. If yours don't reverse, stop using the door until it's fixed.

**How do I keep dust and pests out of my garage?**

A good bottom seal and, if needed, a threshold seal are your best defense, important in the desert, where fine dust and pests find every gap. Arizona sun degrades rubber seals faster, so they need replacing more often here.

**Can I lubricate the door myself?**

Yes, with a proper garage-door lubricant, not WD-40, which is a solvent that strips the lubrication you need. A professional tune-up adds the balance, tension, and safety checks that matter most.

## Pricing & Warranty

**What warranty do you offer?**

We back parts with a 10-year garage door parts warranty, and spring repairs carry a 5-year parts and labor warranty. Everything is itemized in writing before we start.

**Why don't you list prices online?**

Honest pricing depends on your specific door, its weight, size, parts, and condition. Rather than post numbers that won't match your situation, we diagnose free and give you an accurate written estimate before any work.

**Do you offer payment options?**

We keep pricing transparent and can talk through payment options so a repair or a new door fits your budget and timeline. Ask us when we quote the job.

**Is the estimate really free?**

Yes, $0 trip charge, and the written estimate is free and no-obligation. You only pay if you approve the work.
